About Divine Inspiration Publications

Thank you for visiting!

I hope you learned something about the moons’ effect on planting and will try it and see that it works. I consider it a part of organic gardening philosophy, working with the forces of nature. It is an ideal to aspire to, although I often get caught having to plant at a less than desirable time because it’s now or never! I’d love to hear stories if you get some interesting results.

Since 1997

This calendar was started by me, Caren Catterall, in 1997, when I made a New Years Resolution to try to stay on top of my garden, and get plants in at the right time. Always looking for that earliest tomato!

I took my new calendar and was writing in the best planting days based on several resources when I realized my friends would like to have that information too. So I printed a few, and the tremendous response has encouraged me to keep growing and improving the product.

It has been an incredible journey of learning. My scientist husband Greg was never comfortable with vague terms like “the Moon’s gravitational pull is greater at this time”, and so I had to learn enough to satisfy his scientific mind. I have learned graphic design, web design, bookkeeping programs, photography, and the complexities of a web business. I worked with my  brother, Garth Catterall, to create the Moon Planting Matrix software program.

20 years later

Now, 20 years have passed and Gardening by the Moon is in around 100 retail outlets across the country, and has a strong following of regular customers. Husband Greg the sales guy has gone on to other full time work, and it’s just me trying to juggle all aspects of the business, plus the day job, plus the art dream.

In trying to simplify and remove myself from the mundane (but not creative) parts of the business, I am emphasizing on-line ordering, and streamlining fulfillment.  I finally updated my website into a mobile friendly format. I hope you enjoy the new refreshed web site, especially my pictures. Let me know if you find any problems. Big changes behind the scenes, but positive, freeing ones!

Thanks for reading this far! I always look forward to your comments.

Continue the conversation on Facebook if you like, and watch for my occasional reminders to get out there and plant!

May your gardens be abundant and beautiful.
May you always have more than enough!

Happy Gardening!
